throughout: some places have the correct "degrees" symbol: a circle
                   some have a circle with an underline, which is wrong.
                   2.6 has examples of both

 ANSWERED 7.3 major: entry widgets allow changing of numbers, but even after hitting return, the plots do not change. return should do an "update"
      I'M NOT CHANGING THIS ... unless they complain.  If you hit "Update" button, then plots change.
